The "dry village" (English for Poble Sec) lies between the foot of the city hill Montjuïc and the Avinguda del Paral·lel. This working-class area was the first to be built during the expansion of the city, after the city walls had been demolished in the middle of the 19th century. Remarkably, this site was not part of the plan of city planner Cerdà, who was responsible for the construction of the Eixample district.

Despite its central location, you will find few tourists or major tourist attractions here, but all the more cozy bars, boutiques, and restaurants. A must for the advanced Barcelona goer!
